Barangay San Rafael Abajo

San Rafael Abajo is located at the northern part of Poblacion, Sto. Tomas, Isabela. First existed as a Sitio, Cabagan, Isabela with a land area totalling 1,941,810 square meters, 767 are agricultural land bounded on the east part Villa Ammugauan on the west by Barangay San Bernardo, San Juan, Aggub, Sawi and Tallag from Municipality of Cabagan on the south by Poblacion, Sto. Tomas, Isabela and the north by Cagayan River. The family of late Rafael Zipagan, were the first inhabitants of San Rafael Abajo, Sto. Tomas, Isabela. Migrated from Anao, Cabagan, Isabela. Being the Roman Catholic pious man. They thought of naming the sitio to San Rafael Abajo. After his cessation since the people were ardorasty to pay their taxes and secure from hometown they prompted them to mould resolution for its separation from Cabagan. Finally, the resolution passed and it was acted and created barangay of this municipality on May 25, 1935.
